Just Outside MCA, The Matrix, Shortly After Zinyak's Broadcast, Thursday

Several hours of searching his apartment - when he and Cara had gotten back, and again this morning - and then the greater premises of the MCA building, such as the lobby - and Atton had finally found a weapon.

Which was to say he had a broom.

He put his foot down on the head as he stepped outside and violently yanked the stick part out of it. "So what I'm gathering from this," he said, looking up at... wherever that voice had come from, just to make sure he was listening, "is that there's finally someone we can beat the poodoo out of."

They had taken all of his weapons, they had taken the Force out of his head, and they had taken the Ebon Hawk. Atton might not have been Sith anymore, but damn if he wasn't strongly inclined to make sure someone was going to die. Screaming. For this. "And then to finish up, I think I'm going to kick this Zinyak guy in the nuts."

Cara was disturbingly chipper right now. The broadcast hadn't exactly reassured her (there was only one thing...person that would do that), but it had given her a target.

"After you're done, I'll make him wish you hadn't stopped kicking."

"Good!" Atton said. He was not unhappy in his choice of impromptu roommates right now. "Towers, right? That's where these guys are supposed to be?"

"They're the most likely thing to need guards," Cara agreed. "And they didn't even bother to clear anything around the bases so we should be able to ambush someone easily enough."

Mord'Sith temples weren't built how and where they were just for aesthetics.

Atton gave the broom handle a practice swing. It worked well enough. "Figure we can cave in a few skulls, find out where their boss is hiding," he said. "Works for me."

"And if they're reluctant to talk, I can be very persuasive."

Cara, remember the part where you weren't supposed to do things like that any more? No? Fine, Carry on.

It was okay! Atton wasn't supposed to get pissed off and seriously consider murderragetorture anymore, but he didn't have the Force right now, so was anyone truly checking?

"Good," he said. "Then let's go, I'm sick of this."

Someone should've paid more attention to all the pocket dimension stuff.

Two someones, but they'd both find out why ignoring all that was a bad idea soon enough.

Cara nodded. "I need to hit something."

"You and me both," Atton said crabbily, as he began to walk. "I can't believe they touched my ship."

That part was the easiest to focus on.

Paying attention to the small outrages helped to repress the larger ones.

"Probably too scared there might be a fair fight if they didn't."

"Could've just blasted those towers out of the sky if I had her," Atton said. "Now we'll just have to dismantle them one by one."

"The towers or the guards?"

Who was she kidding?

Both. Both was good.

"Both?" Atton offered. He gave the handle another swing. "Hey, look."

Aliens. Milling around. With guns.

"I could use a gun."

Cara drew her agiels, reminding herself silently that they weren't working because of the aliens.

"We should go ask them nicely for one." Then take it anyway when that didn't work.

"So I had to make an enormous oven-mitt chicken cry and trash some oversized doll furniture this morning to get out of a giant's castle, just in time to hear some creepy disembodied voice tell me that we're in a simulation before replacing half of the island's freaky pod-people with Battletoads," Sparkle said, walking over to where Atton was standing. He felt pretty confident that it was really him, given how pissy he looked, and how he didn't seem terribly inclined to break into song or anything while holding that broom handle. "How was your morning?"

Sparkle mostly just wanted to break more shit. A lot. Lewis was going to fucking chew him out when he got home, and if he was lucky he wouldn't miss his next appointment with his parole officer and UGH.

"This Zinyak clown stole my weapons, my Force connection, and my ship," Atton snarled. He pointed at Sparkle. "And you! You are not supposed to be here for this poodoo anymore! You're lucky he just gave me someone's kneecaps to break, or I'd kick your ass!"

...it was a good thing, the lack of the Force. He was feeling a little Sithly.

"Oh, yeah," Sparkle snarked, "because I totally knew this was going to happen if I showed up here on a Tuesday. Come on, like, normally this stuff at least starts ramping up enough on Monday that we know we're fucked by then!"

Yeah, your first mistake was expecting the island to follow your rules, Sparks. Maybe it wanted to keep you on your toes.

"Wait, he took the Hawk? Asshole!"

"You never portal anywhere on a weekday! Especially not here! That's just asking for something to happen!"

Stop yelling, Rand.

"But yes! He's an asshole! I'm going to punch my way through his goons until they cough up the Hawk, and then I'm going to unleash Cara on him!"

Before he cracked and went full-on axe crazy Jaq on anybody.

At least yelling-Atton was kind of par for the course for this sort of thing. Sparkle was taking it with a grain of salt.

"Well, I'll remember that for next time, then! God!"

Great counterpoint, Spark.

"... And I want to watch that. The punching and the unleashing. Can I watch?"

"Yes! Obviously! You better not go wandering around, getting your stupid rear end in more trouble!"

Because you didn't have a date with Zinyak's unusual punishment system, Atton. "I was gonna have a day off yesterday, damn it."

Sparkle had a few more dates lined up, at this rate, really.

"As if the island ever believed in days off. Except for me. I'm skipping school now to be here."

Not... that he really wanted to be in school anyway. And chilling out with the Friendly Giant hadn't actually sucked, either.

"And why is that, exactly?!"

... at this point, Atton was mostly just yelling because he'd started yelling and he didn't really want not-yelling to catch up with him.

"Because I can't leave the fucking island!" Aaand now Sparkle was yelling back. Because that was a great coping mechanism, actually. "Or the sim, or whatever the hell this is! I wasn't skipping when I came here!"

Yet.

Atton digested that information. He still had the feeling something was wrong here, but without his Force powers he couldn't actually pinpoint it as well as he usually could. Urgh.

"...Well, you're still an idiot!" he yelled, once he realized too much non-yelling time had already passed for his comfort.

"And you're super eloquent!"

So there, Atton. So there.

Sparkle crossed his arms over his chest and curled his lip a little, directing a pissed-off look in the direction of the towers.

"Noodles."

Yeah, now he was playing dirty.

"Are you seriously pulling a 'noodles' on me right now?" Atton asked incredulously.

What even, Sparks.

He glanced over his shoulder at the tower.

"We tried punching those things yesterday. No luck."
